Castle
The castle that possesses chequered history is located nearby the old harbour. The raw architecture of this edifice consisting of some remnants is the result of the interventions of the city’s invaders who were destroying and improving this building used for military purposes. After the golden years when Richard the Lion-hearted took Berengaria form Navarra as his wife, the castle functioned as a prison. Nowadays the interiors include the Museum of the Cyprus from the Middle Ages which present a collection of pottery, metal tools, and works of sacred art and an assembly of emblems. The battlements, a huge terrace together with towers from which the magnificent view of the city may be admired; they all adhere to the castle.
